Bowie Fire Restoration Volunteer Week

Thursday, August 17 – Thursday, August 24, 2017

On Wednesday, June 07th at 3 PM a wildfire caused by lightning broke out on a mountain near Diamond Mountain. Our calls to emergency services quickly led to a team of on-site professionals who helped us to manage the safety of our guests and staff who were all evacuated from the Retreat Valley.  Wildfire-fighters from all over the Southwest worked quickly to extinguish the fire within 24 hours.  Despite the quick response, part of our water system was damaged and a few houses received cosmetic damage.

(For more details visit our Facebook posts from June 9, June 10, June 11 & June 13.)

Join us Thursday, August 17 – Thursday, August 24 for the “Bowie Fire Restoration Volunteer Week”.

Come for the weekend or stay the entire week.

We’ll replace part of our water system and rehabilitate cottages 25, 26 & 27. There is no fee for this program.  Accommodations and food will be provided to all volunteers.

Transportation from/to Willcox greyhound bus station to/from Diamond Mountain Retreat Center is available upon request. Transportation from/to Tucson airport to/from Diamond Mountain Retreat Center is available on Wednesday, August 16. Questions? Contact us:

If you are unable to come to Diamond Mountain to help, perhaps you can help in other ways – we will need up to $10,000 to pay for the repairs to return 3 houses to habitable condition.
