Three Principal Paths
A New Year’s Teaching with David K Stumpf
December 28, 2018 – January 1, 2019
Are you looking to transform your life in 2019? Are you looking for something meaningful to do as you bring in the New Year? Are you hoping to begin 2019 with healthier habits?
Over the New Year’s Weekend you will:
- Receive an introductory overview of the entire Buddhist path from suffering to perfect happiness.
- Have ample time for personal reflection, contemplation, and journaling
- Have the opportunity to discuss your practice with David
- Be immersed in a community supportive of personal growth and renewal
“The three principal paths are renunciation, the wish for enlightenment (or “bodhichitta”), and correct view of emptiness. According to Pabongka Rinpoche’s commentary, “The three principal paths are like the main beam that supports all the rest of the roof; your mind must be filled with these three thoughts if you hope to practice any dharma at all, whether it be the open or the secret teachings of the Buddha. A mind caught up in renunciation leads you to freedom, and a mind filled with hopes of becoming a Buddha for the sake of every living being brings you to the state of omniscience. A mind imbued with correct view, finally, serves as the antidote for the cycle of life”.
– Je Tsongkapa(1357-1419), author of Three Principal Paths
“It was the best gift I could have given to myself” – Ale Jasso, attended the 2017 New Year’s Teachings
A humble Buddhist practitioner for many years, David K Stumpf finished 3 years, 3 months, 3 days of silent retreat in 2014.
