Diamond Mountain Fundraising In September 2004, the night before the opening day of Diamond Mountain University – a dinner and celebration was held in Tucson. It was quite the event, complete with a beautiful dinner, speeches, and words from the Lamas. What people might not know is that some stayed behind at Diamond Mountain, frantically working to finish Jamyang House so that it could be used as a teaching space. We didn't even know until the next morning that our campground permit was approved – our back up plan was to have everyone camp at Mountain View RV in Bowie! In these past 4+ years, we've all been successful in creating what we have today at Diamond Mountain: 38 courses serving 199 students last term, a beautiful teaching space, and a growing campus. Starting with the 2009 Spring term, we are shifting the emphasis of how we fundraise to meet our operating expenses – which were $232, 929 last year. Our goal is to streamline our fundraising efforts, to provide thorough information to our students about the costs of DM operations, and to create varying levels of fundraising programs that everyone can participate in so as to achieve our common goal of ensuring that DM can continue to operate and grow. How You Can Help The total operating costs of Diamond Mountain in 2008 were $232,920. To help us meet these costs, we invite you to contribute in one or more of the following ways: 1) Donate $33 to sponsor the costs for one student for a term at DMU 2) Donate $181 a term towards the total cost of operating Diamond Mountain 3) Tithe a percentage of your income 4) Join the Dollar-a-Day program (DAD) 5) Donate a day's pay Please see detailed expenses for a detailed report of DM expenses. The Diamond Mountain Board and students greatly appreciate your support in making Diamond Mountain successful and hope that we can continue to serve the world for many years in the future. |
